Cleaning and inspection

Every listed piece is graded, measured by hand and photographed as it is. Here is what that covers, and what the product page tells you about cleaning.

Grading

Before a piece is graded, we check the front, the back and the inside, the closures and seams, and the underarms, cuffs and hems. On shoes we also check the soles. The piece then gets one of four grades, and every flaw is named and photographed. If a piece sits between two grades, it gets the lower one. The condition guide explains the grades.

Measuring and photographs

The piece is laid flat and measured by hand, in inches and cm. See how we measure. The photos show that exact piece, including any wear.

Cleaning

We do not claim that every piece has been cleaned. If a piece has been professionally cleaned, its product page says so. As with any preloved piece, we suggest washing or cleaning it as its care label says before you wear it.

Quality check and repairs

When a piece has passed our quality check, its product page shows Quality checked. If a piece has been repaired, its product page says so.
